How to : Run XP Compatible files in Windows 7




I am running Windows 7 on my basic machine from some time now and I came across a weird problem when I tried to run some execute able files which were slightly old and were working flawlessly on Windows XP didn’t open in Windows 7 at all. In this post I am telling you how to open those Windows XP compatible files under Windows 7.

  1. Right click on the desired file which is not running under Windows 7 and click on ‘Properties’
  2. From options choose ‘Compatibility’
  3. Under Compatibility mode options check the box where it says ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for:’ and then select Windows XP version in which you want to run your program from the drop down list.
